Charges Include Robbery and Felony Battery

Former PGA Tour player Erik Compton was arrested on Sunday, August 20, 2023, following an alleged domestic violence incident involving his wife. Miami-Dade Police responded to a call at Compton's residence and took him into custody. Compton has been charged with robbery and felony battery.

According to the arrest report, Compton's wife told police that he had been drinking heavily and became verbally and physically aggressive towards her. She claims that Compton threw her into a wall, causing injuries to her arm and face. The report also states that Compton took her cell phone and prevented her from calling 911.

Compton was transported to the Miami-Dade County Jail, where he is currently being held without bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, for his first appearance.

Compton, a two-time heart transplant recipient, has had a successful career on the PGA Tour. He has won twice on tour and represented the United States in the 2010 Ryder Cup. His arrest comes as a shock to many in the golf world.
